About Canaan Cafe
Taiwanese Food
Located at 2418 Lomita Blvd, Lomita, CA 90717, Canaan Cafe operates as a taiwanese restaurant serving Lomita in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 amβ8 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Canaan Cafe at (424) 328-0016; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, eatcanaan.com.
Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 125 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded taiwanese restaurants in Lomita.
Lomita is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Lomita is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I ordered the vegetable and meat wonton soup; I had expected the vegetables to be inside the wontons along with the meat, but instead, the greens were in the broth while the meat was in the wontonsβa pleasant surprise! π It was a satisfying meal regardless; the wontons were plump and meaty with a great texture, and a splash of vinegar made the broth taste even more savory. I had a busy schedule of eyelash appointments today, so by the time I managed to slip away for lunch, it was already past 3:00 PM. The place was quiet, and I really enjoyed the dining atmosphere. Iβd recommend it to other office workers who, like me, often can't eat at regular meal times.

I believe I gave a good review here for the previous Chinese restaurant. Canaan Cafe has quite the authentic Taiwanese flavor here. They didn't disappoint here. We started with their Orange chicken which had a nice dried orange peel flavor to it which other restaurants lack and the chicken had a real crunchy batter to it. Their wontons in chili oil was quite delicious as well as their pork dumplings with garlic & green onion dipping sauce. My wife had their Dan Dan noodles which was also authentic with a spicy kick rich in peanuts and peanut sauce, noodles just the right chewy texture to give it a complete savory experience. Our daughter tried their popcorn chicken along with pork & shrimp sui mai. Both were authentic in flavor and delicious to the taste buds. Restaurant was clean, organized, accommodating and friendly service which will have us back again to try some more of their delicious items on the menu. Great job Canaan Cafe for a five star rating βββββ

Overall I liked the food and the service was ok. I didn't find the cleanliness of the restaurant particularly appealing. The chili oil wontons were just okay but the salt and pepper pork chop was pretty good, and comes with a beverage on the lunch combo menu.

Try the bestest savours and flavours of Shanghai, China and Taipei, Taiwan and set your table for this fine meal in South Bay. Delicious dumplings, soup noodles. Vegetables, fried fish filets, fried chops. Take with a fine passionfruit green tea. Or boba milk tea. Some times are busier than others. But the wait staff is always working hard skidaddling to please. With professional courtesy of ease. A wonderful culinary corner.
